Mongabay is a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness about social and environmental issues related to conservation and sustainability. Their mission is to educate and inspire people to protect and preserve the world’s natural resources. Critical to the success of their mission is a network of journalists around the world whom they’ve partnered with to report on key stories.
The challenge
Because a localized perspective is critical, Mongabay needed an AP partner that could support payments worldwide while keeping Sage Intacct, their accounting software in parody. Mongabay’s international payments were full of complexity and continuously fluctuating with issues beyond their control. Local bank rules, geopolitical seasons, currency issues and compliance were all obstacles they were facing.
Their previous AP solution only provided support through chatbots and “self-serve” help articles, leaving them guessing as to whether their issues had been resolved. They needed a solution coupled with a responsive support team to help handle the intricacies of international payments.
The solution
Routable’s Sage Intacct integration and international payments solution immediately matched Mongabay’s needs. With payments available in 36 currencies and to 220+ countries and territories around the world, Routable easily accommodated their needs. And because environment and conservation issues have no boundaries, Rotuable’s global payment coverage leaves them room to further expand.
Additionally, Routable’s top-tier Customer Support team has proven an invaluable resource, resolving issues via email, Slack, and web calls in a timely and accurate manner. Most recently the South Asia region experienced a period where political and exchange issues blocked Mongbay’s ability to pay their journalists. Luckily, Routable was able to quickly intercede and create new payment solutions to ensure payments continued, uninterrupted.
“I don’t know the next International Payment obstacle we will encounter, but I am confident that with Routable, we will find a solution,” says Mongabay’s Financial Controller, Salman Ghani.
